Training Pastors in Prayer, Uganda

"Jesus tells us, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes”. Clearly, one cannot see the wind but whether it gently sways the tree tops or is seen in the power of a hurricane, it is visible. It is not difficult to see that the Holy Spirit is at work mightily in northern Uganda, South Sudan and all of East Africa. After several years training hundreds of pastors, and now campus ministers, it is obvious God is working in this area of the world in extraordinary ways. This work must be undergirded with prayer if it is to be sustained for generations to come. Edgewood realizes the need to partner with Prayer Current to teach these leaders the importance of combining rigorous theological training with a vital prayer life. This June, John Smed will be our keynote speaker in Lire, Uganda. He will be training 50 to 60 strategic leaders from several districts in northern Uganda, South Sudan and a Congolese refugee camp. These pastors, made up of at least five denominations, are presently training hundreds of pastors in the Edgewood network. It is Edgewood’s belief that theologically trained pastors empowered through a vibrant prayer life will have an impact throughout East Africa.
